How to Do Good by Doing Better
When we work to advance knowledge and understanding, if even just a little bit with each effort, we do good. Every so often we'll unearth breakthrough discoveries, but more frequently, we'll learn one or two things at each turn that add up over time. The work to build our muscles of curiosity, inquiry, experimentation, and learning propels us as we all innovate and create value. The results are multiplicative, and this is how you can Do Good by Doing Better™ and Up Your Impact One Act at a Time.
Your Host
Eric Duell is an executive intrapreneur who works at the nexus of data, analytics, AI, technology, creativity, and strategy.
Hi, I’m Eric.
My work results in improved profitability, better customer experiences, enhanced media performance, new products, and growth in customer CLV. I’ve done these things for leading brands and organizations for more than 25 years. My experience includes leadership roles at Audacy, Comcast, The E.W. Scripps Company, advertising agencies, and management consultancies. And I have this little project called Do Good by Doing Better, which you have happened across today.
My formal education includes having earned an M.S. in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship and an Executive M.B.A, both from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. Before that, I was assistant adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati, where I co-created the graduate-level data visualization class in the Lindner College of Business. I went to college at Ohio University, where I received a B.S. in Communication with minors in Political Science and German.
Bio Bonus
As you might deduce from my writing, I’m an avid photographer, as well as a former photojournalist, musician, designer, creative director, and producer for television and video. I publish Do Good by Doing Better and contribute to The Goldmine from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I live with my family and our four Tonkinese cats.
Ways to Support
As a Free Subscriber, you have access to recently published editions of articles and podcasts.
But it takes Paid Subscribers to keep Do Good by Doing Better going. That’s because producing a high-quality publication and podcasts require recording equipment, editing software, design services, photography, and even basic things like email and file storage — all of which generate expenses that I have to cover myself.
Reasons to upgrade to a Paid Subscription include:
Unlimited access to the full post archives. Amazing!
Keep new posts coming by covering my production expenses. Awesome!
I’ll know that you value my writing! Best of all!
If you’re not ready or able to make a monthly commitment to fund my work here, you can show your support in other meaningful ways:
Share an article with a friend and recommend to other Substack readers
Buy me a virtual cup of coffee
Help me buy my next pack of Polaroid film
I appreciate your support and seeing your support, through recommendations or financial means, will encourage me to keep this up. Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to our journey together!
-Eric
